My First Pony

It doesn't eat. It doesn't poop. It doesn't need shoes, or to see the vet. And, it's pink! Mommy and Daddy are sold.
I like it too -- look, I can even hold the reins!
Thank you Aunt Karen and Uncle Craig for this Christmas present!

My First Christmas by Lilah Rose Tyrrell

It started off with meeting Santa at a Christmas party on the 22nd. I kept trying to pull down his beard to see if he was real....

Then, I dressed up as a reindeer to kick off the festivities.
Don't I look like Nana in this picture??

I met my cousin Miranda for the first time...

Opened presents with Mommy....

And gave serious consideration to this stocking....

After the actual Christmas dates, we went to the Roundhouse. It was my first long car ride. I developed my first cold while we were gone, but I'm feeling better now.

Here I am with the Davi cousins

I had a major meltdown on the way home. Mommy and Daddy made a franic stop to change my diaper and outfit. I was not a happy camper! But afterwards I slept for three hours -- enough time to wake up at home!

I can't wait for next Christmas!

love, LILAH

I have a NEW COUSIN!!

I HAVE A NEW COUSIN! (Or second cousin... Or cousin-once-removed??)

Okay, if your daddy's nephew has a baby girl (well, his wife did anyway...) how does that make her related to me?

With any relation, Kaitlyn Bailey Dehart was born Monday December 17th at 10pm. Congradulations (Cousin?) Keith and Alaina!!

I can't wait to meet her!

Okay, it's been less than six hours since the last post. Now the baby has gone and spit-up, and it's landed squarely on my nose!

Oh well..... **SIGH**

I still love her.....

PLEASE play with me.....

This baby is a fascinating creature, and I try to take good care of her. I watch closely when she's getting her diaper changed, I open the nursery door if she's in there crying, and I like to check her over when she returns from an outing with her parents.

So I don't understand why she wouldn't play with me. I gently try to put my toy where she can reach it, but she won't throw it for me. What is wrong with her?

The Story of the Flying Poop

I've always wondered what would happen if Lilah should poop while I was changing her diaper. Last night I finally found out....

I woke up at 4:30am thinking, sweet -- it looks like L is going to sleep through the night. (She has started to occasionally sleep through the night) I woke up about 40 minutes later to Lilah making her "freakishy happy" sounds as Nick calls it. So, I went into her nursery, changed her diaper, fed her a bottle, and was rocking her back to sleep when I heard her making the unmistakable sounds of a diaper being filled up.

Okay, so I'll change her diaper again, I thought. Unfortunately, I was a little quick on the draw. I waited until I thought she was done defecating, but as I pulled the old diaper off, she let loose another hot stream of poop.

My hand was already covered and poo had already splattered on the floor before it registered in my mind what had happened. Later, I was impressed with the speed and impulsion this baby
had used while pooping. The poo had literally flown halfway across the room, covering everything in its path. A tiny miracle of miracles -- the poo stopped just a mere two inches from her stuffed animals on the bookshelf.

I couldn't help it -- I yelled as soon as I realized what had happened. My yell startled Nick to wake, and after asking if I needed help, he wandered into the room. I was still in shock because Nick had to ask me what had happened. (Luckily, he unknowingly managed to avoid walking in the poop as he entered the nursery.)

So, Nick set to cleaning the baby up and I set to cleaning the poop up, starting first with washing my poo-filled hand. Even Simon wanted to help clean up -- he is very conscientious about dirty things on the floor anyway, but Nick and I chased him out.

Nick and I laughed and Lilah made her freakishy-happy sounds while we cleaned the mess up. If you had told me a year ago that I would one day laugh at 5:30 am while cleaning up baby poop off my hardwood floors, I would have told you that you're nuts. First off, I'm usually very squeamish about body functions such as blood, vomit, and poop. Second, I'm am really not a morning person. (I mean, really, I picked a career where my work day starts at 11am) But there is a certain charm to having a baby in the house and I wouldn't trade my new little family for anything. I love this blessed life, with flying poop or not.

My Great-Grandma's Christening Gown

Here I am over Thanksgiving Weekend in my great-Grandmother's Christening gown. It is hand-made with lots of lace. Nanny Tanny helped set me up, then I showed the family how modeling was done.
